Kevin Christen

Head Athletic Trainer



Head Athletic Trainer for New York City Football Club since its inception, Mr. Christen was previously on staff for with Real Salt Lake as an Assistant to Tyson Pace from 2010-2014. He is a Graduate from the University of Utah with a Master’s degree in Kinesiology, Mr. Christen followed his time in college up with a position as Head Athletic Trainer for the United States Short Track Speed Skating team leading up to the Sochi Olympics.

Melvyn Pamplona

Assistant Athletic Trainer



Melvyn enters his 2nd season as an Athletic Trainer. Prior to his time here at New York City Football Club, he worked with the New York Red Bulls for 5 seasons. He completed his Undergraduate Degree in Exercise Science from Rutgers University (2009) and obtained his Masters Degree in Athletic Training from Seton Hall University (2011). Melvyn has PES and CES certifications from the NASM and has completed Active Release Technique courses in the past.

Melvyn currently resides in Jersey City, New Jersey.

Mike Heitkamp

Assistant Athletic Trainer



A Vermont native, Michael Heitkamp  joined NYCFC ahead of the 2017 season as the assistant athletic trainer with the club's medical staff. Michael spent the previous five years with the Colorado Rapids as both an assistant and head athletic trainer. Prior to working in MLS, Michael worked as an athletic trainer at Castleton University in soccer, hockey, skiing and lacrosse.  A BOC Certified Athletic Trainer, Heitkamp has over 15 years of experience in athletic training, coaching and fitness training. 

Michael is a graduate of Springfield (Mass.) College with a B.S. in Athletic Training where he was also a four member of the track and field team. Michael also holds a masters of rehabilitation sciences from California University of PA.
