Purcell, who joined the Men in Red as the assistant athletic trainer prior to the start of the 2016 season, has been promoted to head athletic trainer in 2017. Before joining the Fire, Purcell served as an athletic trainer for Orlando City SC, Columbus Crew SC, The Ohio State University, University of Richmond and Indiana University Bloomington. The St. Louis, Mo. native holds a Bachelor of Science with an emphasis in athletic training from Concordia University-Wisconsin and a Master of Science in kinesiology from Indiana University Bloomington, and in 2009 was published in The American Journal of Sports Medicine.

Reade Whitney

Assistant Athletic Trainer

Reade Whitney is in his second year with the Fire (from FC Dallas, 2013-2015) as an assistant athletic trainer. He holds a Master of Science degree in kinesiology and rehabilitation science from the University of Hawai’i at Manoa and a Bachelor of Science degree in athletic training from the University of Tampa. He loves his girlfriend Liana, ultra running, his beard, and pushing the boundaries of the profession through an integrative use of modern technology and progressive rehabilitation methods

Tyler Golden

Academy Athletic Trainer

Tyler Golden joins the Chicago Fire Soccer Club as a full-time member of staff after two years at Hope International University where his primary sports were Men’s Soccer, Basketball, and Baseball. Golden is a former Royal who competed for HIU men’s soccer and was an NCCAA All-American goalkeeper for Royals, helping HIU to a pair of NCCAA National Tournament appearances on the pitch. He completed his B.S. in Kinesiology in 2014 at CSU Fullerton and went on to complete his M.S. in Athletic Training at Weber State (UT) in 2016. While at Weber State University his completed his own research project examining Music Genre Effects on Power Performance. His previous experience in the MLS came as an intern with 2015 Vancouver Whitecaps. Off the field he considers himself a foodie and enjoys exploring new restaurants and cooking as well as spending time with friends and family.
